Linen (#FAF0E6) is a very pale warm shade that appears across 20+ master palettes in our corpus, most prominently in the work of Filippo Indoni, Nathan Altman, and Winslow Homer and the Realism tradition. Master painters paired it most often with Raisin black (#242124), Violet-blue (#324AB2), and Wild blue yonder (#A2ADD0). The combination forms an almost-white, sunlit chord, built on a complementary hue split, plays the source warmth against cooler companions for visible contrast, with a sharp light/dark contrast that lets the darker companions read as depth.
